The Phi Psi Journey is our new member process, designed to help you learn, connect, and get the most out of your time in the Fraternity.
This timeline walks through what you can expect, from the moment you accept your bid to the day you become an initiated brother. Each step is focused on building strong relationships, understanding our values, and preparing you to contribute to your chapter and community.

The first step in joining Phi Kappa Psi, where an invitation to membership is formally accepted.
A tradition that marks the beginning of the new member’s journey and commitment to Phi Psi values. This is an open ceremony, welcome to all guests the chapter wishes to invite.
Through our new member education Embark program and chapter-led programming, new members learn about the history, values, and responsibilities of Phi Psi while building strong connections with their brothers.
A lifelong bond is formed during initiation, as new members take their oath and are welcomed as full brothers of Phi Kappa Psi.
Embark is Phi Kappa Psi’s new member education and development program, designed to introduce brothers to the Fraternity’s history, values, and expectations. This hybrid program provides chapters with flexible resources to guide meaningful conversations, foster personal growth, and build connections that last well beyond initiation. Embark ensures every new member begins their Phi Psi journey with the tools, knowledge, and support to thrive.
The Embark modules are designed to introduce you to the fraternity experience, focusing on your rights, responsibilities, health, safety, and personal growth. By completing these modules, you will lay the foundation for a safe, meaningful, and rewarding membership in Phi Kappa Psi.
Courses on member rights, responsibilities, and Phi Psi’s risk management policies. New members then begin health and safety modules covering alcohol awareness, hazing prevention, and sexual assault prevention.
Introduction to the history and values of Phi Kappa Psi, helping new members understand what makes the fraternity unique and how values guide actions. It concludes with an overview of Fraternity & Sorority Life, including its history, structure, and the role members play in the broader community.
A focus on health and wellness through Phi Psi’s Mind, Heart, and Soul model and the Nine Dimensions of Wellness. New members explore modern mental health, stress management, coping strategies, and conversation techniques to support personal growth and create safe spaces for others.
Leadership structure of Phi Kappa Psi, from chapter to national levels. New members also learn about opportunities to develop and strengthen their own leadership skills.
The importance of equity, inclusion, and diversity in strengthening fraternity culture. New members also complete the Health & Safety Post Survey and explore leadership through integrity, emotional intelligence, and the relational leadership model.
Prepares new members for initiation by reviewing brotherhood expectations and the value of lifelong membership. It encourages reflection on their commitment and ensures they are ready to fully engage in the Ritual.
