Q+A with Ben Eberlein ’21

What made you join Phi Psi?
I wanted to join and be a part of something bigger than myself and create meaningful relationships that would last a lifetime.

What surprised you about Phi Psi after you joined?
The biggest surprise for me after joining Phi Psi was how close the brothers are outside of their pledge classes. From freshmen to seniors, everyone had genuine connections with each other, something I believe was unique to our chapter in Greek life at Ohio University during my time as an undergrad.

Who influenced you most in the fraternity, and how?
I have been influenced by many of the brothers during my time in the Fraternity, but the one who had the biggest influence on me was Jack O’Brien 18, because he encouraged me very early on to take on a leadership role in the chapter.

Any skills or experiences used from your time in the Fraternity today?
Absolutely, I gained valuable skills in how to build my network and find ways to connect with people I never thought I would interact with prior to joining.

How has your career evolved, since graduating? What industries have you worked in, and what are your current responsibilities?
Since graduating in May 2024, I have started my career in Columbus, OH, as an operations supervisor at DHL Supply Chain’s largest e-commerce third-party logistics site in North America. In my current role, I am responsible for managing 20 employees daily in processing inbound receipts and reserve inventory replenishments. In addition to my day-to-day duties, I also serve as the head of the Associate Relations and Operations Management Standards committees at my site.

What is the most fulfilling part of your professional journey so far?
The most rewarding part of my career so far has been contributing to meaningful improvements at my facility that have boosted employee satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Since graduating, how have you stayed connected or involved with Phi Psi or brothers?
Outside of serving as the chapter advisor, I still frequently speak with many of the undergraduates on a weekly basis. My pledge brothers and I also get together frequently have a very active group chat that we use to communicate daily.

What would you say to a potential new member about Phi Psi? What makes our chapter different from others in your mind?
I would tell them that the biggest difference between our chapter and others on campus is that the experience is just as good freshman year as it is as a senior. Many other chapters tend to lose the presence of their upperclassmen, but we give ours a reason to stay until the very end.
